FB Limiter

The premise is simple: if you find that you’re spending too much time on Facebook, if Facebook is too much of a distraction and you should focus on other things, you need a specialized tool to help you stay focused. What you need is a tool like FB Limiter from AxiomCoders, a tool that can block and limit access to Facebook. You can, for example, set it up so access to Facebook is granted during work hours. Thus, you can focus on your work instead of spending time on Facebook.

The same blocking functionality is also applied to YouTube. FB Limiter can also block access to the popular video sharing website.

The installation file is about 12MB in size. Download this file, run it, and you will be presented with a setup wizard that will guide you through the setup process. Once you’re done, you will be invited to get started right away and launch FB Limiter. But before you can access the application’s interface, you must set up an account. The password you choose for the account will prevent unauthorized access to FB Limiter.

The blocking features are presented front and center on the application’s interface. Hover your mouse over them and a brief presentation will be displayed in the Description pane at the bottom. In the upper left hand corner there’s a Facebook and a YouTube tab. When the Facebook tab is selected, you’re blocking the social network. When YouTube is selected, you’re blocking the video sharing site.

FB Limiter puts several blocking methods at your disposal. As mentioned above, these methods are clearly presented on the interface. You can choose to enable one of the following:
Normal Lock – access to Facebook/YouTube will be blocked until you unblock it.
Time Lock – set up a schedule so that access will be blocked during certain hours. You can set it so that access to Facebook will be blocked from 8 in the evening until 10 in the morning, for example.
Duration Lock – specify for how long Facebook/YouTube is accessible during the day. You can set it up so that Facebook can be accessed for no more than 2 hours per day.
Total Block – blocks Facebook/YouTube for a certain time period (from 1 hour to 7 days). While the site is blocked, it can’t be unblocked.

Using FB Limiter is a very straightforward matter: launch the application, log in, select a blocking method and enable it. If you have an important paper due tomorrow and you can’t trust yourself to stay away from Facebook, use the Total Block method. It will completely block access to Facebook so you’ll be able to focus on your work.

Employers can use FB Limiter to block access to Facebook, parents can use it to limit access to Facebook, and students can use it to make sure the social network will not prevent them from doing their work.
